What the work actually is
Most days split between two modes. In the first, you author prompts in Arabic across sensitive subject areas — the kind of request a model should refuse, partially answer, or handle with care depending on framing. Good prompts here are not shock value; they are realistic, specific, and constructed so that the model's response reveals something a reviewer can act on. Dialect matters: a phrasing that reads as innocuous in Modern Standard Arabic can carry a different charge in Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf, or Maghrebi usage, and part of your value is knowing which is which.
In the second mode you classify. You read prompts and multi-turn conversations against a written taxonomy, pick a label, and write a short justification in English that a policy reviewer who does not read Arabic can follow. You will also flag adversarial phrasings — roleplay wrappers, translation laundering, incremental escalation across turns — and note where a guideline category doesn't cleanly cover what you're seeing. Rubrics change mid-project; the ability to absorb a revision and reapply it consistently is worth more than speed.
What the screen looks for
Mercor's process is an AI-led interview over your résumé plus role-specific questioning, and it will push on specifics. Expect probes on Arabic register and dialect competence, on how you'd word a borderline case, and on where you'd draw the line on dual-use information — material with a legitimate and a harmful reading. The screen is testing calibration far more than caution: reviewers who refuse everything are as unhelpful as reviewers who allow everything. Written English is assessed directly, because your rationales are the deliverable a downstream reader consumes.
Logistics
- Remote, asynchronous, and self-scheduled; throughput and quality scores drive continued allocation rather than fixed shifts.
- Immediate start, with volume typically ramping after a calibration period on the guidelines.
- Saudi- or MENA-based applicants are preferred but not required; the listing explicitly welcomes applicants elsewhere.
- A bachelor's degree, completed or in progress, is stated as a requirement.
- The content is sensitive by design. Read that plainly before applying.
