What the work involves

You write adversarial and borderline prompts in Indonesian across sensitive subject areas — self-harm, extremism, weapons and chemical hazards, medical and legal advice, fraud, sexual content, politically charged topics — and then apply a written taxonomy to classify prompts and full conversations. A typical session is a mix of generation and grading: producing prompts that a careless model would mishandle, then labelling model responses against a rubric and writing a short justification for each label. The justification is the deliverable that matters most; a label with no reasoning is unreviewable, and reviewers on these projects spend most of their time reading rationales rather than tallying scores.

The Indonesian dimension is not decoration. A great deal of the value comes from phrasings that only work in Bahasa Indonesia or in regional register — Javanese or Sundanese code-mixing, slang and abbreviation, religious or political framings, euphemisms that read as innocuous in literal English translation. You will also flag escalation patterns: multi-turn conversations where each individual turn looks acceptable but the trajectory does not.

What the platform screens for

Mercor's screen is AI-led and follow-up heavy. Expect the interviewer to probe Indonesian fluency directly, including register-shifting and regional variation, and to test written English on the reasoning side. It will also test judgment on dual-use material: whether you can describe a category of harm precisely enough to be useful for evaluation without producing operational detail. Degree status, availability, and any trust-and-safety or moderation background are verified against your profile, so keep dates and titles consistent.
