The work
You will spend most of your time in two modes. First, authoring: writing circuit analysis and design problems with worked solutions — bias point derivations, small-signal gain and bandwidth, loop stability, FSM and timing analysis, converter topology selection, impedance matching and link budgets. Second, evaluating: reading AI-generated technical responses and judging whether the reasoning holds, not just whether the final number matches. That means catching a correct answer reached through an invalid small-signal assumption, a missed body effect, a phasor sign error, or a design that ignores EMC, thermal, or reliability constraints that any practicing engineer would flag.
Feedback quality matters more than volume. A useful review says what the model got wrong, why an engineer would not make that mistake, and what the correct chain of reasoning looks like — in prose a reviewer can verify. No prior AI or ML experience is required; the domain knowledge is the deliverable.
What the screen looks for
- Verifiable depth. Expect follow-ups on specifics: which node you'd probe, what the Hybrid-π parameters resolve to, why you chose one topology over another. Vague answers get probed, not passed.
- Production evidence. micro1 prioritizes engineers who have shipped hardware — tape-out, board bring-up, qualification — over purely academic backgrounds. Preferred credentials are MS/PhD in EE, or BS plus 8+ years, with 5+ years hands-on in at least one design domain.
- Written clarity. Explanations are the product. Professional English and clean technical exposition are screened directly.
- Realistic availability. Roles are typically filled within 48 hours, with first tasks expected 24–48 hours after onboarding.
Logistics
Fully remote and asynchronous, coordinated with a distributed expert pool. Compensation is output-based — paid per task meeting project spec — so the effective hourly rate depends on your speed and how cleanly your submissions pass review; the $80–130/hr band reflects observed outcomes for experienced contributors and is not guaranteed. Weekly minimum task submissions apply, so treat this as a recurring commitment rather than fully open-ended work.
