What the work actually involves

You will be handed business problems of the kind that arrive in a client kickoff — a regional bank deciding whether to exit a product line, a manufacturer facing margin compression, a private equity client sizing a fragmented market — along with one or more model attempts at answering them. Your job is to judge the reasoning, not just the conclusion: whether the issue tree is genuinely MECE, whether the market sizing assumptions are defensible and sourced, whether the recommendation follows from the analysis or was reverse-engineered to sound decisive. You then write feedback specific enough that an engineer who has never run a diagnostic can see exactly where the logic broke.

A second stream of work is generative. You author prompts that expose weaknesses — cases where the obvious framework is the wrong one, where data is deliberately incomplete, where the client's stated question is not the real question — and you write the gold-standard answer against which model output is compared. This is closer to writing a case teaching note than writing a deck, and the writing bar is high: prose, not bullets; explicit assumptions; numbers that reconcile.
