What the work involves

You receive AI-generated lyrics and music alongside the prompts that produced them, then score each output against a written rubric. A typical task queue mixes several kinds of judgment: checking generated lyrics against published Dutch and international songs to flag memorization or close paraphrase, rating creativity and prompt adherence, and marking language that reads as translated English rather than native Dutch — awkward stress patterns, unidiomatic slang, register that doesn't match the genre. Some tasks ask for written justification of a score; others ask you to rank several candidate outputs. Critical listening on headphones or monitors is expected, since production and vocal delivery often matter as much as the text.

The distinctive value you bring is regional ear. A rubric can describe "natural word choice," but only someone embedded in the Dutch music scene knows whether a line lands in Nederhop, Nederlandstalige pop, or Flemish indie — and whether a phrase is current, dated, or simply nonexistent outside of a translation engine.

What the platform screens for

Mercor's onboarding includes a Bilingual Competency Interview conducted in Dutch, plus resume review and AI-led screening. Expect the interview to press on specifics: named artists, songs you've written or covered, publications you've contributed to, and how you'd articulate why one lyric is stronger than another. Vague claims of "music background" tend not to survive follow-up. English reading comprehension matters too — the instruction documents are long, versioned, and unforgiving of skimming.
