What the work involves
You will work through queues of legal tasks built around real transactional documents and model outputs. A typical session might mean reading a limited partnership agreement excerpt and grading a model's summary of the waterfall and clawback mechanics, redlining an AI-drafted indemnity or MAC clause in an SPA, flagging where a side letter conflicts with the LPA's most-favored-nation provision, or writing a short reference answer that explains why a proposed DPA sub-processor clause fails under GDPR Article 28. Some tasks ask you to draft sample clauses from a fact pattern; others ask you to compare two model responses and justify which is closer to market practice. Written rationale matters as much as the verdict — your reasoning becomes the training signal, so "this is wrong" without the why is not a usable deliverable.
What the platform screens for
micro1's screening is AI-led and conversational, with follow-up questions that push on whatever you claim. Expect it to probe specifics: which fund structures you've actually papered, whether you can talk through GP/LP economics without notes, how you'd handle a negotiated point where reasonable counsel disagree. Vague seniority claims tend to collapse under the second or third question. The bar is roughly 8+ years in private equity, funds formation, M&A, or asset management practice with primary drafting responsibility, plus a JD from an accredited school. Prior AI or data-labeling experience is not required and is not what they are measuring — clarity of legal reasoning under time pressure is.
Logistics
- Fully remote, contractor engagement, no fixed hours
- Work is queue-based and asynchronous; most contributors commit 10–20 hours per week
- Observed pay band is $90–130/hr, set at onboarding based on demonstrated depth; not guaranteed and subject to platform terms
- Volume fluctuates with client project phases — treat this as supplemental rather than a replacement for practice income
- Expect calibration materials and rubric guidelines up front, plus periodic quality review on your annotations
