What the work involves
You will be handed AI-generated work products that imitate the deliverables of a public health communications professional: outbreak messaging briefs, health literacy-adjusted fact sheets, risk communication plans, stakeholder slide decks, media Q&A prep, and spreadsheets tracking campaign metrics or audience segmentation. Your job is to grade them against a structured rubric and explain your scores in writing.
Good evaluation here is unglamorous and specific. You are checking whether cited incidence figures actually match the source, whether reading level claims hold up, whether a risk message follows established principles (acknowledge uncertainty, state what is known and unknown, give an actionable next step), whether a slide's chart supports its headline, and whether the tone would survive contact with a skeptical community audience or a hostile reporter. You also flag the mundane failures — broken slide hierarchy, inconsistent citation format, a table that doesn't total.
What the platform screens for
- Verifiable professional history. Mercor's screening interview asks about specific campaigns, audiences, and agencies you worked with, and follows up on details. Vague answers score poorly.
- Depth under follow-up. Expect two or three layers of probing on a single claim — name a guideline, then explain when you'd deviate from it.
- Evaluation judgment. Can you separate "I would have written it differently" from "this is wrong"? Rubric work rewards calibration, not preference.
- Deliverable fluency. Real comfort in Google Slides and PowerPoint matters, because much of the assessed output is visual.
Logistics
Fully remote and asynchronous. Work is hourly and batched — some weeks bring steady volume, others little, and there is no guaranteed minimum. Most contributors commit 10–20 hours weekly and complete tasks on their own schedule, though individual queues can carry turnaround deadlines. The $80–120/hr band reflects rates observed on this platform for comparable expert evaluation work; your offered rate is set after screening and is not guaranteed.
