What the work actually involves
You will be working through simulated intake and dispatch scenarios rather than live calls. A typical task gives you an incoming request — a caller description, an alarm, a chat message, a radio transmission — and asks you to assign a priority, select the responding resource, and write out the reasoning that produced that decision. Other tasks ask you to review an AI system's handling of the same scenario and mark where it under-triaged, over-triaged, skipped a required protocol question, or routed to the wrong agency. Documentation is the deliverable: the model learns from your rationale, not just your answer, so "Priority 1, chest pain, ALS unit" is worth far less than the sentence explaining which determinant criteria applied and what would have changed the assignment.
Expect additional work on multi-channel coordination and escalation: describing how a scenario changes when two calls arrive on the same incident, when a caller loses signal mid-report, or when a supervisor notification is triggered. Periodic feedback reviews are part of the engagement, and reviewers will push back on rationales that state a conclusion without the protocol path behind it.
What the screen looks for
micro1's screening is AI-led and conversational, and it moves quickly from your resume to the specifics of your console. Screeners commonly probe which protocol system you worked under — Medical Priority Dispatch, APCO, Criteria Based Dispatch, or a local matrix — and how determinant codes actually mapped to unit assignment in your center. Vague answers about "following protocol" get follow-ups until either the detail appears or it doesn't. No AI experience is required, but you should be able to describe a judgment call cleanly, including the one you got wrong, because calibration matters more than a perfect record here.
Logistics and pay
- Remote and asynchronous. No shifts, no live call handling, no on-call rotation.
- Output-based pay. The $30–55/hr band reflects rates observed for comparable micro1 expert work; actual earnings depend on how fast you clear tasks that pass review, and nothing is guaranteed.
- Weekly minimum. A task floor applies, so treat this as a recurring commitment rather than occasional pickup work.
- Fast start. Roles typically fill within 48 hours, with first tasks expected 24–48 hours after onboarding.
