What the work involves
This is domain-expert data work, not a sales job — there is no quota and no pipeline of your own. Instead, you supply the reasoning a model can't fabricate: how a qualified wholesale lead differs from a warm-but-doomed one, how you reframe a spec sheet as margin and throughput for a distribution buyer, how you respond when procurement stalls for six weeks. Typical tasks include authoring prospecting sequences and discovery-call scripts with annotated rationale, writing proposal sections against a fictional but plausible buyer profile, and reviewing model-generated sales copy or call responses for accuracy, tone, and whether the value translation holds up.
A large share of the time goes to evaluation and critique. You'll compare two model responses to the same objection and explain, in writing, why one is stronger — usually because it addresses the underlying commercial concern rather than restating a feature. Rubrics are supplied; the platform wants your judgment applied consistently against them, plus flags when the rubric itself misses something a practitioner would catch.
What the screen looks for
- Verifiable sales history. Roughly four or more years in technical B2B sales, ideally wholesale, distribution, or complex solution environments. Expect follow-ups on deal size, cycle length, and who you sold to.
- Depth under pressure. Generic frameworks (BANT, MEDDIC as buzzwords) score poorly. Specific accounts of how you qualified out of a deal, or lost one, score well.
- Written clarity. Much of the output is prose. Sloppy or padded writing is the most common rejection reason.
- Evaluation instinct. Can you articulate why an output is weak, in terms another reviewer could apply?
Logistics
Contractor engagement, fully remote and largely asynchronous, with occasional coordination calls. Most contributors commit 10–20 hours per week on flexible schedules; some projects offer more. Observed rates on this listing run $45–85/hr, varying with domain specificity, task type, and assessment performance — not guaranteed, and set per project. Technical or engineering background is a plus but not required if your sales record is in technical products.
