What the work actually is

This is egocentric video data collection for robotics and multimodal model training. You mount your own smartphone to a head strap, press record, and do the chores you were going to do anyway — folding laundry, loading a dishwasher, wiping counters, sorting groceries, tidying a room. The value to the buyer is in the hands: clean, uninterrupted first-person footage of a human manipulating real objects in a real, cluttered home. You are not on camera as a presenter, and there is no script. What there is instead is a guideline document specifying framing, lighting, task length, repetition counts, and what disqualifies a clip.

Day to day, the loop is short: read the task brief, set up the mount, record a batch of takes, review them for the obvious killers (hands cropped out of frame, a dark kitchen, a phone that slipped mid-task, someone else walking through the shot), and upload. Rejected footage generally is not paid, so the practical skill here is self-review before submission rather than volume. Sessions tend to be an hour or two at a stretch, scheduled entirely by you.

What the screen looks for

micro1 runs an AI-led onboarding: a device compatibility check followed by a short recorded interview. The compatibility check is binary — iPhone 12 or later, Google Pixel 6 through 9, or Samsung Galaxy S21 or later. The interview is verifying that you live in an eligible state, that you can work in the U.S., that you are physically able to do repetitive bending, lifting and reaching safely, and that you understand you will be wearing a head-mounted phone in your own home around whoever else lives there. Concrete answers about your actual living space and actual weekly hours read far better than enthusiasm.

Logistics and pay

  • Fully remote, fully asynchronous, no fixed shifts.
  • Restricted to residents of the ~40 states named in the listing; California, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington, Connecticut, Colorado, Arizona, Maine, Rhode Island and Hawaii are not on it.
  • Observed pay is $14–15 per hour of submitted, guideline-compliant recorded video — not per hour of setup, review or upload time.
  • Start date depends on head strap shipping. A $20 signing bonus/reimbursement toward the strap is paid after 20 completed hours.
  • Expect to need reliable home Wi-Fi; the files are large.
