What the work involves

You will do the work you already do, but with the workings exposed. That means producing the artefacts of a real strategy engagement — target operating model blueprints, org design options with role and span-of-control logic, hypothesis trees, synthesis decks, steering committee papers, benefit cases — to the standard a client would accept. You will work alongside experts from two other domains, so a portion of the output is cross-functional by design.

The second half of the job is documentation. Every deliverable is logged with the reasoning that produced it: why this cut of the data, why this structure over the obvious alternative, what you would have pushed back on had a partner asked. That record is what becomes tasks and rubrics for training and evaluating frontier models. Some seats lean toward hands-on delivery, others toward structuring and documenting the work of others — Mercor allocates based on seniority and the screen.

What the platform screens for

  • Firm pedigree and level, verified against your CV: Partner, Engagement Manager, Associate or Consultant at a top-tier strategy firm.
  • Depth in target operating model and organisational redesign specifically — this is the stated preference, and follow-up questions will go past the buzzword into governance layers, decision rights, and interaction models.
  • A short domain assessment after the resume screen. It tests judgement on realistic consulting problems, not recall.
  • Genuine availability for the stated window, and UK basing plus right to work — this is a hard gate, not a preference.

Logistics

Remote, but not asynchronous: the team collaborates on a UK business-hours rhythm, and 40 hours per week is the expectation for the full four weeks from 14 September to 10 October 2026. You should not be carrying another engagement with meaningful hour demands during that period; small side commitments can be discussed openly rather than concealed. Pay in the $140–200/hr range has been observed on comparable Mercor consulting cohorts and varies with level and role — it is not guaranteed.
