What the work involves

You are editing and assembling 3D/CGI and animation-driven sequences — robotics demonstrations, mechanism walkthroughs, instructional and explainer content — in whichever NLE you already know well: Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or Avid. Day to day that means cutting rendered CGI passes into coherent sequences, adding motion graphics and callouts, compositing layers, mixing and cleaning audio, and delivering polished exports against a spec. A second, less familiar half of the job is dataset preparation: trimming, labelling, segmenting and re-encoding video assets so they are usable downstream by a machine learning team. You will not be asked to build models, but you will be asked to follow naming, framing and format conventions precisely, and to explain what you did.

What the platform screens for

micro1's screening is AI-led and conversational, and it pushes on specifics. Expect to be asked which tool you use for what and why, how you handle a render that arrives with baked-in problems, how you organise projects and proxies, and how you responded to a round of notes you disagreed with. Generalists who describe "video editing" without naming codecs, frame rates, node or layer structures, or a real project tend to stall on the second follow-up. A reel or portfolio link showing 3D/CGI or animation work — not just live-action cuts — carries more weight than years of experience alone. A bachelor's degree in any field is stated as required.

Logistics

  • Fully remote contractor engagement; no AI or ML background required.
  • Asynchronous by default — written handoffs, recorded feedback, occasional overlap calls.
  • Observed pay band is $30–80/hr, set by demonstrated animation and compositing depth rather than a fixed schedule; hours vary with project load rather than being guaranteed.
  • You supply your own workstation, software licences and storage, and are expected to keep project files organised well enough for someone else to pick up.
